Why are Jones and Brown Necessary to the Success of their Teams?
Julio Jones and Antonio Brown were the best wide receivers in the league this year, and without them, their teams probably would have done a lot worse. Jones finished second all-time for most receiving yards in a season in NFL history with 1,871, and Brown finished fourth all-time with 1,834 receiving yards. Both of these receivers are dominant, and wreck havoc against opposing cornerbacks and safeties. They are matchup nightmares, as they are more physical, athletic, speedy, and have all of the attributes and skills necessary to consistently be a part of the Pro Bowl. For the Steelers, not having Antonio Brown, means not having a go-to guy who Ben Roethlisberger can always throw the ball to in tough circumstances. He reduces stress for his quarterback as he can make a play on the ball anytime. For the Falcons, not having Julio Jones basically means you are losing a majority of your offense. Matt Ryan consistently threw the ball to him, mainly due to the fact that he had no one else to go to on offense besides Devonta Freeman. Without him, the offense would be terrible and one-dimensional. This is why these receivers are necessary components of the team.
