Ranking the Final Four

Who has the Best Team?

As the Conference Championship games approach, here is how I rank the four teams in terms of most talent and most complete on both sides of the ball:
  1. Arizona Cardinals (#2 in NFC): They have a high-powered offense as well as a high-powered defense, and they can even make plays on special teams. They had the second highest scoring offense, ranking only behind the Panthers, and were in the top 5 in terms of total defense and scoring defense. Their quarterback would probably finish runner-up in MVP voting, and he played outstanding during the regular season (although he did not play well against Packers in divisional round matchup). Their running back is young, flashy, and was the best rusher in the final weeks of the season. Larry Fitzgerald is a beast, and they have other receivers with some serious speed to go along with him and Michael Floyd. Lastly, they have a lot of playmakers and stars on defense such as Patrick Peterson and Calais Campbell, and they would have been even better if it was not for an injury to Tyrann Mathieu, their safety.
  2. Carolina Panthers (#1 in NFC): Imagine how much better this team would be had it not been for an injury to Kelvin Benjamin in the preseason. First and for most, they have the best linebacker duo in the league with Luke Keuchly and Thomas Davis, as well as a shutout corner in Josh Norman. Cam Newton is the MVP of the league in my opinion, and they have a running back who can flat out run. Greg Olsen is one of the best tight ends in the league and has taken a lead role in the offense. They had the most players of any team selected to the Pro Bowl, with ten.
  3. Denver Broncos (#1 in AFC): They have the best defense in the league, with Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware dominating on the line of scrimmage, and with shutout corners and safeties doing their jobs. With this terrifying defense, Peyton Manning and the offense just needs to conrol the flow of the game and put up points when they get things going. Manning looks healthier than he has been the entire year. They also have one of the best wide receiver duos with Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas.
  4. New England Patriots (#1 in AFC): This team is not worse than the other three teams, they are ranked last mainly because their team is not the most complete. The offense is great, with future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady, the best tight end in the league named Rob Gronkowski, and some really good wide receivers. The weakness of the offense is the offensive line, as they have been exploited in some games. Also, their defense is not on the same level as all of the other teams. They have some incredible playmakers, don't get me wrong, but the other three are more explosive and effective.

Why the Patriots Won Super Bowl 51

Pats Win Over Falcons 34-28 in OT It was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Falcons could not get anything going. Belichick and Brady pulled off some more magic and won their fifth Super Bowl together. In the second half, it seemed as though the game was getting away from the Atlanta Falcons, and their youth caught up to them. I believe that this game should have definitely been won by the Falcons, but the game slipped away from them. There are many reasons to explain what happened, including the fact that the Falcons did not run the football to milk down the clock in the second half, they turned the ball over when it was not necessary, they did not play as tough and physical on defense and seemed gassed, and even just because Tom Brady and the rest of his offense played a hell of a game. In my opinion, though, the real reason why the Patriots won, is because of t...

Week 14 Power Rankings

Cowboys on a Roll, Panthers Drop Not many people expected the Dallas Cowboys to top the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football during Week 13. The Saints came into the game winning ten straight, while the Cowboys were a "mediocre" team in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys won 13-10 and will rise in the week's rankings. In other important games, the Chicago Bears lost a shocker to the New York Giants, Lamar Jackson won his third straight game for the Baltimore Ravens against the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans won their ninth straight game, and the Los Angeles Chargers won a close one against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers are quickly fading in the wild-card race, and have lost four straight games. Here are my rankings heading into Week 14: Los Angeles Rams (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs (10-2) New Orleans Saints (10-2) Los Angeles Chargers (9-3) New England Patriots (9-3) Houston Texans (9-3) Pittsburgh Steelers (...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Chiefs Suffer First Loss; Ravens Shut Out Titans The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs by three points at home, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came back to avoid an upset to the 49ers, the Steelers defeated the Bengals, and the Dolphins took down the Bears at the end of overtime. There were some unexpected wins and losses, as well as some close games, in Week 6. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-notch defense, 40-7. It is been hard to figure out which teams are "contenders" and which are "pretenders" this season. It is especially difficult to rank the middle of the pack teams. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 7: Los Angeles Rams (6-0) New Orleans Saints (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) Carolina Panthers (3-2) Green Bay P...
