Wild Card Round Game Picks

The Wild Card Round

  1. Kansas City Chiefs over the Houston Texans 20-13: I simply cannot pick against the Chiefs because they are the hottest team in the NFL right now, and they have won ten straight games after starting the season 1-5. This game will feature two of the best defenses of the second half of the season, and I believe that the game will come down to which offense can push the ball down the field and solidify the running game.
  2. Pittsburgh Steelers over the Cincinnati Bengals 28-20: It's really difficult for me to pick against the Bengals in another divisional round matchup as they've lost all of them so far in the Dalton-Lewis era, but I don't think that they will be able to get the job done once again. First and for most, Dalton will not be playing, and the ball will be in AJ McCarron's hands. Offensive numbers have dipped with him playing quarterback, and I do not think that the Bengals will be able to put up points. Also, I am not sure if the Bengals can control the Steelers offense, even without DeAngelo Williams. The one way the Bengals will be able to win is if the defense can force turnovers.
  3. Seattle Seahawks over the Minnesota Vikings 31-23: The playing conditions are going to be incredibly harsh, but I am going to go with the team that is hot, and the one that has more experience in the playoffs. Russell Wilson has been playing out of his mind during the second half of the season. He has thrown 24 touchdowns and one interception during this stretch, truly remarkable. I think that if the Seahawks are able to build a big lead just like the last time these two teams played, the Vikings will shy away from the running game and Adrian Peterson, causing major complications for them on offense.
  4. Washington Redskins over the Green Bay Packers 30-20: Kirk Cousins and Co. is on the rise while it's exactly the opposite with Aaron Rodgers and Co., who having been playing horrendous football on offense. Horrendous. The offense looks completely out of sync, and in my opinion, are not a playoff team. On the contrary, Cousins, Jordan Reed, Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, and the rest of the Redskins offense is on fire. They have been blowing out teams in the first half and earned their spot in the playoffs. I think that they'll be able to get the win over the Packers in this one behind a balanced offense and defense.

Why the Patriots Won Super Bowl 51

Pats Win Over Falcons 34-28 in OT It was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Falcons could not get anything going. Belichick and Brady pulled off some more magic and won their fifth Super Bowl together. In the second half, it seemed as though the game was getting away from the Atlanta Falcons, and their youth caught up to them. I believe that this game should have definitely been won by the Falcons, but the game slipped away from them. There are many reasons to explain what happened, including the fact that the Falcons did not run the football to milk down the clock in the second half, they turned the ball over when it was not necessary, they did not play as tough and physical on defense and seemed gassed, and even just because Tom Brady and the rest of his offense played a hell of a game. In my opinion, though, the real reason why the Patriots won, is because of t...

Week 14 Power Rankings

Cowboys on a Roll, Panthers Drop Not many people expected the Dallas Cowboys to top the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football during Week 13. The Saints came into the game winning ten straight, while the Cowboys were a "mediocre" team in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys won 13-10 and will rise in the week's rankings. In other important games, the Chicago Bears lost a shocker to the New York Giants, Lamar Jackson won his third straight game for the Baltimore Ravens against the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans won their ninth straight game, and the Los Angeles Chargers won a close one against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers are quickly fading in the wild-card race, and have lost four straight games. Here are my rankings heading into Week 14: Los Angeles Rams (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs (10-2) New Orleans Saints (10-2) Los Angeles Chargers (9-3) New England Patriots (9-3) Houston Texans (9-3) Pittsburgh Steelers (...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Chiefs Suffer First Loss; Ravens Shut Out Titans The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs by three points at home, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came back to avoid an upset to the 49ers, the Steelers defeated the Bengals, and the Dolphins took down the Bears at the end of overtime. There were some unexpected wins and losses, as well as some close games, in Week 6. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-notch defense, 40-7. It is been hard to figure out which teams are "contenders" and which are "pretenders" this season. It is especially difficult to rank the middle of the pack teams. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 7: Los Angeles Rams (6-0) New Orleans Saints (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) Carolina Panthers (3-2) Green Bay P...
