New Coaches

Seven New Coaches Hired

There were seven coaching vacancies at the end of the season that needed to be addressed, and all of them have been filled. The dominoes have fallen. Hopefully, these coaches will help their teams become more fortunate (ex: Cleveland Browns), and lead them to Super Bowls in the future.
  1. Adam Gase / Miami Dolphins - Gase has been at outstanding offensive mind throughout his career, bringing the best out of Tim Tebow, Peyton Manning, and Jay Cutler during his time with the Broncos and Bears. With the Dolphins, he will try to make Ryan Tannehill worth the money he was paid last offseason, as well as a franchise and elite quarterback.
  2. Ben McAdoo / New York Giants - McAdoo was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach as Tom Coughlin resigned as head coach of the Giants this offseason. The organization stated that the reason behing hiring him was that they felt that he had something to prove. Also, Eli Manning supported him throughout the process.
  3. Hue Jackson / Cleveland Browns - Great hire by the Browns. Jackson has beautifully coached the offense of the Bengals for the past four years and deserved another chance at a head coaching gig., He brought the best out of all his players. Also, the Browns picked up a coach from another team inside the division, which could be a plus.
  4. Mike Mularkey / Tennessee Titans - In my opinion, the Titans should have gone after Chip Kelly or Doug Marrone to coach their team, but instead they decided to promote their interim head coach. I am not quite sure where this organization is headed, as they find a couple of players in the draft and have some young talent, but not a competitive team at all.
  5. Doug Pederson / Philadelphia Eagles - The Eagles decided to go with Andy Reid's prodigy, Pederson. He was the offensive coordinator working under Reid at Kansas City, but I am not sure if he will be able to take this team to the next level. They should have hired a defensive minded coach that could help out their defense, the weakness of the team this season.
  6. Dirk Koetter / Tampa Bay Buccaneers - In an unexpected move, the Bucs fired their coach Lovie Smith, and decided to promote their offensive coordinator, Koetter, to the head coach position. He did an excellent job with Jameis Winston and has had much success with all of the offenses he has worked with. A good hire by the Bucs.
  7. Chip Kelly / San Francisco 49ers - I love this hire. I think Chip Kelly will really help the offense, and he can make Colin Kaepernick the same quarterback he was when he led the 49ers to the Super Bowl. If he can create the team he wants in the Bay Area, good things might happen, even though they are in arguably the toughest division.

Why the Patriots Won Super Bowl 51

Pats Win Over Falcons 34-28 in OT It was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Falcons could not get anything going. Belichick and Brady pulled off some more magic and won their fifth Super Bowl together. In the second half, it seemed as though the game was getting away from the Atlanta Falcons, and their youth caught up to them. I believe that this game should have definitely been won by the Falcons, but the game slipped away from them. There are many reasons to explain what happened, including the fact that the Falcons did not run the football to milk down the clock in the second half, they turned the ball over when it was not necessary, they did not play as tough and physical on defense and seemed gassed, and even just because Tom Brady and the rest of his offense played a hell of a game. In my opinion, though, the real reason why the Patriots won, is because of t...

Week 14 Power Rankings

Cowboys on a Roll, Panthers Drop Not many people expected the Dallas Cowboys to top the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football during Week 13. The Saints came into the game winning ten straight, while the Cowboys were a "mediocre" team in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys won 13-10 and will rise in the week's rankings. In other important games, the Chicago Bears lost a shocker to the New York Giants, Lamar Jackson won his third straight game for the Baltimore Ravens against the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans won their ninth straight game, and the Los Angeles Chargers won a close one against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers are quickly fading in the wild-card race, and have lost four straight games. Here are my rankings heading into Week 14: Los Angeles Rams (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs (10-2) New Orleans Saints (10-2) Los Angeles Chargers (9-3) New England Patriots (9-3) Houston Texans (9-3) Pittsburgh Steelers (...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Chiefs Suffer First Loss; Ravens Shut Out Titans The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs by three points at home, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came back to avoid an upset to the 49ers, the Steelers defeated the Bengals, and the Dolphins took down the Bears at the end of overtime. There were some unexpected wins and losses, as well as some close games, in Week 6. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-notch defense, 40-7. It is been hard to figure out which teams are "contenders" and which are "pretenders" this season. It is especially difficult to rank the middle of the pack teams. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 7: Los Angeles Rams (6-0) New Orleans Saints (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) Carolina Panthers (3-2) Green Bay P...
