Week 16 Power Rankings

Rams are on Fire, Chiefs stop the Chargers Jimmy Garappolo definitely seems like the answer at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. He has been playing very well and is only the second quarterback to win his first five starts in the NFL. The 49ers defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-22 with a last-second field goal. In another game on the West Coast, the Los Angeles Rams absolutely crushed the Seattle Seahawks in every facet of the game. They outplayed Seattle on offense, defense, and special teams. Todd Gurley ran for 3 touchdowns, and also had one receiving touchdown. In the best game of the week, the New England Patriots outlasted the Pittsburgh Steelers after a wild sequence of events in the final minute of the game. The Panthers, Saints, and Falcons all won their games, and continue to fight for the NFC South crown. The Chargers have been hot for the past couple of weeks, while the Chiefs have been absolutely cold, but in the end, the Chiefs actually defeated the Char...

Aaron Rodgers is Back

Rodgers is off IR Aaron Rodgers is back and healthy for the Green Bay Packers, just in time for their playoff push. On Wednesday, Rodgers began preparations for his return Sunday at the Carolina Panthers after missing nearly two months because of his broken right collarbone. The team has struggled without him, and are currently 7-6 after starting the season 4-1. With Rodgers back, the Packers have a chance to run the table and possibly make it back to the playoffs for a ninth straight time. At the same time, the team is no lock to reach the postseason if they win out. There are many teams in the hunt in the NFC fighting for the two wild-card spots, including the Panthers, Falcons, Seahawks, Cowboys, and Lions. A lot of pieces have to fall into place, but first and foremost, they must win out in their final three matchups (which will not be easy).

Week 15 Power Rankings

Chargers Moving On Up, Steelers are the New #1 The Patriots lost to the... DOLPHINS. That loss was definitely unexpected. The Eagles beat the Rams, but they lost Carson Wentz. The Vikings lost to the Panthers, the Saints lost to the Falcons, and the Seahawks lost to the Jaguars. The race for the six playoff spots in the NFC just got a lot tighter. The Steelers came back and won late against their rivals, 39-38. The Chargers keep rolling and look like the favorites to win the AFC West now. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 15: Pittsburgh Steelers (11-2) Philadelphia Eagles (11-2) New England Patriots (10-3) Minnesota Vikings (10-3) Jacksonville Jaguars (9-4) Los Angeles Rams (9-4) Los Angeles Chargers (7-6) New Orleans Saints (9-4) Carolina Panthers (9-4) Atlanta Falcons (8-5) Seattle Seahawks (8-5) Baltimore Ravens (7-6) Green Bay Packers (7-6) Dallas Cowboys (7-6) Detroit Lions (7-6) Buffalo Bills (7-6) Kansas City Chiefs (7-6) Tennessee Titans (...

Carson Wentz Gets Injured

Wentz Suffers a Torn ACL Carson Wentz will not play until next season, as he tore his left ACL on Sunday in Philadelphia's 43-35 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Wentz injured the knee on a third-quarter scramble in the end zone, a touchdown that was eventually called back because of a holding penalty on the left tackle. Wentz played through the pain for four more snaps, and he threw a touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffrey before heading to the locker room. Nick Foles played quarterback for the rest of the game and made some crucial throws to ensure a win for the Eagles.  In my opinion, Wentz was the leading MVP candidate until his injury. He led the Eagles to 11 wins while throwing for a league-leading and franchise-record 33 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He has played incredibly well in his sophomore season and has many qualities that only a few quarterbacks have. The loss of Wentz is devastating for the Eagles. Even though Nick Foles is a decent quarterback a...

Giants' Head Coach and General Manager Fired

Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese are Gone Giants owner John Mara fired head coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese with a month left in the 2017 season. The Giants were unexpectedly disastrous this year after they made the playoffs last season and seemed to improve during the offseason. They were 11-5 last year, and are currently 2-10. No one thought that the team would implode so significantly, and changes had to be made after some bad decisions and bad coaching. The Giants simply look like they need a fresh start.  For a team like the Giants, a team that so values stability, to fire a head coach and general manager who won 11 games last year speaks volumes about what Mara believes are intractable problems that McAdoo and Reese could not be allowed to fix. The team has been embarrassing, especially regarding how they handled the Eli Manning situation. First and foremost, Eli Manning should not have been benched for Geno Smith. The problem was not the quarterb...

The NFC Playoff Picture

NFC South on a Roll This year, the NFC is a lot tougher, and better, compared to the AFC. There are many contenders with winning records, and every team is going to have to play well coming down the stretch. There are also plenty of matchups left that will decide how the NFC playoff picture changes. For example, this weekend, the Vikings will play the Falcons, the Panthers will play Saints, the Eagles will play the Seahawks, and the Cowboys already defeated the Redskins on Thursday night. All of these matchups will have major playoff implications, considering that all of the teams mentioned are in the playoff hunt. As of today, the NFC South would send three teams to the playoffs, with the Saints winning the division, the Panthers claiming the #5 seed and the Falcons as the #6 seed. The Seahawks, Lions, Cowboys, and Redskins are on the outside looking in. The Eagles can be the first team to lock up a playoff spot if they defeat the Seahawks this afternoon.  On ano...

Week 13 Power Rankings

Eagles Still on Top; NFC South looks Strong There were some great matchups in Week 12, with some expected results, and some surprising. The Eagles keep rolling, with another win, this time against the Chicago Bears. On Thanksgiving Day, the Chargers embarrassed the Cowboys, the Vikings cruised to their seventh straight win against the Lions, and the Redskins outlasted the injury-prone Giants. In arguably the best matchup of the week, the Los Angeles Rams defeated the New Orleans Saints, snapping their eight-game win streak. The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with great offensive play, and the Carolina Panthers outlasted the New York Jets. The Saints and Panthers are both 8-3, while the Falcons are 7-4. The NFC South is by far the best division with divisional matchups to decide who makes it to the playoffs. Here are this week's power rankings: Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) New England Patriots (9-2) Minnesota Vikings (9-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (9-...

Week 11 Power Rankings

Not Many Changes at the Top There were four teams on a bye last week, including the Philadelphia Eagles, who are still at the top of the power rankings. In the NFL, there were some great games, but not many surprising results. One surprising result was that the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Dallas Cowboys 27-7. The Carolina Panthers blew out the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football 45-21. The Chargers blew another lead in the fourth quarter (what's new). Here are the updated power rankings heading into Week 11: Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) New England Patriots (7-2) Los Angeles Rams (7-2) New Orleans Saints (7-2) Minnesota Vikings (7-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2) Seattle Seahawks (6-3) Kansas City Chiefs (6-3) Jacksonville Jaguars (6-3) Carolina Panthers (7-3) Tennessee Titans (6-3) Detroit Lions (5-4) Atlanta Falcons (5-4) Dallas Cowboys (5-4) Buffalo Bills (5-4) Washington Redskins (4-5) Oakland Raiders (3-5) Green Bay Packers (5-4) Los Angeles Chargers (3-...

Week 10 Power Rankings

Cowboys Rise and Chiefs Fall; Eagles and Rams Looking Good The Cowboys are on a 3 game winning streak after defeating the Chiefs. They will play the Falcons next week. Speaking about the Falcons, they lost to the Panthers in their first divisional game, 20-17. The Eagles and Rams both scored 50 points against their opponents and are looking great. Also, the Redskins were able to upset the Seahawks. There were six teams on bye, so there were not many major moves (except for the Texans, who dropped 14 spots). Here are this week's power rankings: Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) New England Patriots (6-2) Los Angeles Rams (6-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2) Minnesota Vikings (6-2) New Orleans Saints (6-2) Dallas Cowboys (5-3) Seattle Seahawks (5-3) Kansas City Chiefs (6-3) Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3) Buffalo Bills (5-3) Carolina Panthers (5-3) Tennessee Titans (5-3) Washington Redskins (4-4) Detroit Lions (4-4) Los Angeles Chargers (3-5) Atlanta Falcons (4-4) Oakland R...

Important Trades from this Week

Eagles get Ajayi; Bills get Benjamin; 49ers get Garrapolo Jay Ajayi: The running back was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles from the Miami Dolphins for a fourth-round draft pick. The Eagles really did not need much help on offense, but they still got much better. Ajayi exploded onto the scene after he posted back-to-back 200-yard rushing performances last year for the Dolphins. In seven games with the Dolphins this year, he posted 465 rushing yards, but never found the end zone. The Dolphins' head coach, Adam Gase, said that his team had the "worst offense in football", and talked about how Ajayi was a major problem. The next day, he was traded. Apparently, Ajayi did not get along well with the coaching staff. In his first game with the Eagles this season, Ajayi scored on a long touchdown run.  Kelvin Benjamin: The Carolina Panthers sent their leading receiver to the Buffalo Bills, in exchange for a third-round pick and seventh-round pick. Benjamin led the t...

Week 9 Power Rankings

Panthers and Ravens Rise; Lions and Dolphins Fall There were not many surprising losses in Week 8, although there were some great games. The Seahawks defeated the Texans 41-38, even though Deshaun Watson threw for over 400 yards and four touchdowns (Russell Wilson outplayed him). The Atlanta Falcons defeated the New York Jets in slick weather conditions, breaking their three-game losing streak. Most surprising was the Baltimore Ravens' win against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football (40-0). Here are the power rankings after Week 8: Philadelphia Eagles (7-1) New England Patriots (6-2) Los Angeles Rams (5-2) Seattle Seahawks (5-2) Kansas City Chiefs (6-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2) Buffalo Bills (5-2) Minnesota Vikings (6-2) New Orleans Saints (5-2) Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3) Dallas Cowboys (4-3) Carolina Panthers (5-3) Houston Texans (3-4) Atlanta Falcons (4-3) Los Angeles Chargers (3-5) Washington Redskins (3-4) Tennessee Titans (4-3) Detroit Li...

Week 8 Power Rankings

Chiefs Fall, and Falcons Fall Further; Eagles Soar! It was another wild week in the NFL. Three teams were shutout. No touchdowns were scored in the Titans and Browns game. The Raiders defeated the Chiefs on the last play of the game. The Patriots defense played well and did not allow a 300 yard passer for the first time this year. The Packers are not playing well without Aaron Rodgers. Lastly, Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles are on a roll. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 8. Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) New England Patriots (5-2) Los Angeles Rams (5-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) Seattle Seahawks (4-2) Minnesota Vikings (5-2) Buffalo Bills (4-2) New Orleans Saints (4-2) Houston Texans (3-3) Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3) Washington Redskins (3-3) Carolina Panthers (4-3) Dallas Cowboys (3-3) Miami Dolphins (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (3-4) Detroit Lions (3-3) Atlanta Falcons (3-3) Tennessee Titans (4-3) Green Bay Packers ...

What is Wrong with the Falcons?

Atlanta Drops Another Game, Fall to 3-3 The Atlanta Falcons lost to the New England Patriots 23-7 on Sunday night. They lost to the same team in Super Bowl 51 34-28 in overtime. The Falcons seemed as though they were over the devastating Super Bowl loss, but they have lost three straight games after starting the season 3-0 (all of the losses were to AFC East teams). The Falcons offense has not been great. They do not have as many big plays this season, and are simply lacking the same explosiveness that they had last season. Another problem is that the team is not converting in the red zone. Yesterday, they scored on only one possession out of four in the red zone. They missed two field goals and did not convert on a fourth and goal. The offense does not have any rhythm, which is partially because the team has a new offensive coordinator in Steve Sarkisian. The team better figure out the solution to their offensive troubles soon, because it looks as though their season is unrave...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Falcons, Packers, and Broncos Fall; Rams and Saints Rise It was another eventful week in the NFL. There are no undefeated teams left, as the Chiefs lost to the Steelers. The Giants got their first win... against the Broncos. The Falcons blew a 17-point lead, reminding them of the Super Bowl, leading up to this weekend's Sunday Night Football matchup with the Patriots. The biggest news of last week was Aaron Rodgers' injury. He suffered a broken collarbone, and will most likely be out for the entire season. The Packers chances of reaching the Super Bowl now seem doomed. Here are my power rankings leading up to Week 7. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) Philadelphia Eagles (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Carolina Panthers (4-2) Los Angeles Rams (4-2) Seattle Seahawks (3-2) Washington Redskins (3-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) Minnesota Vikings (4-2) Buffalo Bills (3-2) Atlanta Falcons (3-2) New Orleans Saints (3-2) Houston Texans (3-3) Green Bay Packers (4-2) D...

Wentzmania

Wentz and the Eagles are Soaring High The Eagles are soaring high and are at the top of the NFC after defeating the Carolina Panthers 28-23 on Thu rsday Night Football. The Eagles are 5-1 thanks to the great play by their stout defense, but also great quarterback play. Carson Wentz has not made many mistakes, and he has been playing at a very high level.  Carson Wentz has only played 22 career games, but has already shown that he is a top quarterback in this league with plenty of room to continue to develop and improve.  Through the first six games of this season Wentz has proven that he can lead the Eagles to victories in games decided by one score or less (Giants, Chargers, Panthers) after going 1-7 in those situations as a rookie, can propel the Eagles to victories on the road (Redskins, Chargers, Panthers) after finishing 2-6 on the road in 2016, and blow teams out by virtue of deadly accuracy (Cardinals).  Wentz has completed 60.9 percent of...

Week 6 Power Rankings

Another Crazy Week, Another Power Ranking The Chiefs remain undefeated, Big Ben threw five interceptions against the Jaguars, the Eagles blew out the Cardinals, Aaron Rodgers and Co. came back against the Cowboys, the Jets are tied with the Bills and Patriots at the top of the standings in the AFC East, and four teams were on a bye. What a week in the NFL. Kansas City Chiefs (5-0) Philadelphia Eagles (4-1) Atlanta Falcons (3-1) Green Bay Packers (4-1) Carolina Panthers (4-1) Denver Broncos (3-1) Seattle Seahawks (3-2) New England Patriots (3-2) Detroit Lions (3-2) Washington Redskins (2-2) Buffalo Bills (3-2) Minnesota Vikings (3-2) Los Angeles Rams (3-2) Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) Houston Texans (2-3) New Orleans Saints (2-2) Cincinnati Bengals (2-3) Dallas Cowboys (2-3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2) Tennessee Titans (2-3) Baltimore Ravens (3-2) New York Jets (3-2) Oakland Raiders (2-3) Miami Dolphins (2-2) Arizona Cardinals (2-3...

Cam Newton Laughs at Female Reporter

Newton Thinks Question is Funny The quarterback of the Carolina Panthers, Cam Newton, laughed at a female reporter who asked about one of his teammates, and he thought that it was "funny to hear a female" ask the question. The result of his words was not funny. The reporter did not enjoy his response, and she believes that he was trying to belittle her and also other women in her field. The comments were simply wrong and disrespectful to women working in news media. Newton's sexist remarks put him a bad light, and many people on social media attacked him for his comments.

Week 5 Power Rankings

Eagles Playing Well; One Undefeated Team Remains Every week, some teams play well, while others falter. One more undefeated team lost. Teams that you would expect to be leading their divisions at this point, are. On another note, the Saints almost shut out a team! The Patriots lost ANOTHER game and the Bills are leading the division! The Power Rankings are as jumbled as ever. It's just what happens when you get another early-season week full of confounding results. Here are my power rankings after another wild week: Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) Philadelphia Eagles (3-1) Atlanta Falcons (3-1) Green Bay Packers (3-1) Detroit Lions (3-1) Buffalo Bills (3-1) Denver Broncos (3-1) Los Angeles Rams (3-1) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) Carolina Panthers (3-1) Seattle Seahawks (2-2) Washington Redskins (2-2) New England Patriots (2-2) Houston Texans (2-2) Minnesota Vikings (2-2) Tennessee Titans (2-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) Dallas Cowboys (2-2) New Orleans Saints (2...

Week 4 Power Rankings

Upsets Cause Movement There were many upsets in Week 3, and there are only two undefeated teams left in the NFL (Spoiler Alert: these two teams rank #1 and #2). There will definitely be a shake-up in the rankings this week: Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) Atlanta Falcons (3-0) New England Patriots (2-1) Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) Green Bay Packers (2-1) Tennessee Titans (2-1) Detroit Lions (2-1) Washington Redskins (2-1) Oakland Raiders (2-1) Minnesota Vikings (2-1) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) Denver Broncos (2-1) Los Angeles Rams (2-1) Dallas Cowboys (2-1) Buffalo Bills (2-1) Seattle Seahawks (1-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1) Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1) Baltimore Ravens (2-1) Houston Texans (1-2) Miami Dolphins (1-1) New Orleans Saints (1-2) Carolina Panthers (2-1) Chicago Bears (1-2) Los Angeles Chargers (0-3) New York Giants (0-3) Arizona Cardinals (1-2) New York Jets (1-2) Cincinnati Bengals (0-3) Indianapolis Colts (1-2) Cleveland Browns (0-3) San Fr...

Week 3 Power Rankings

Power Rankings In Week 2, the Patriots were able to rebound from their loss, the Packers lost, the Giants lost again, the Cowboys lost, and the Seahawks nearly lost to the 49ers. At the same time, the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders have been cruising by. There will definitely be a major shake-up in this week's power rankings: Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) Atlanta Falcons (2-0) Oakland Raiders (2-0) New England Patriots (1-1) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) Green Bay Packers (1-1) Baltimore Ravens (2-0) Denver Broncos (2-0) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) Detroit Lions (2-0) Dallas Cowboys (1-1) Seattle Seahawks (1-1) Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) Tennessee Titans (1-1) Minnesota Vikings (1-1) Miami Dolphins (1-0) Washington Redskins (1-1) Carolina Panthers (2-0) Los Angeles Rams (1-1) Los Angeles Chargers (1-1) New York Giants (0-2) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1) Houston Texans (1-1) Arizona Cardinals (1-1) Buffalo ...

The Kaepernick Effect

The Anthem Protests are Spreading One year and one month ago, Colin Kaepernick was first spotted sitting down as the Star Spangled Banner was sung at a preseason NFL game because he refused to "show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." He continued to kneel in future games as the National Anthem was played. In a relatively short period of time, his protest of police brutality and racial injustice in the United States has captivated the country and sparked a debate not only about the state of race relations in America, but about what exactly it means to be a patriot. As police brutality has become more evident and widespread in the country, Kaepernick's initial protest has mutated and spread. There is much controversy as to what is right and what is wrong, and the peaceful protests have inspired conversations among people of all ages, races, and backgrounds, and also action to improve situations in troubled communities. Pla...

Week 2 Power Rankings

Power Rankings In Week 1 of the Regular Season, there were many teams that struggled, and many teams that played well. There were some surprising wins and losses, most notably the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the New England Patriots in the first game of the season. Here are my power rankings heading into the next week: Green Bay Packers (1-0) Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) Atlanta Falcons (1-0) Oakland Raiders (1-0) Dallas Cowboys (1-0) Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) New England Patriots (0-1) Seattle Seahawks (0-1) Minnesota Vikings (1-0) Detroit Lions (1-0) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0) Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) Tennessee Titans (0-1) Miami Dolphins (0-0) Denver Broncos (1-0) Baltimore Ravens (1-0) New York Giants (0-1) Washington Redskins (0-1) Carolina Panthers (1-0) Los Angeles Chargers (0-1) Arizona Cardinals (0-1) Los Angeles Rams (1-0) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0) Buffalo Bills (1-0) New Orleans Saints (0-1) Houston Texans (0-1) Chicago Bears (0-1) Clevel...

David Johnson is Out

David Johnson Injured Wrist vs. Lions Fantasy owners who had the #1 overall pick in their drafts are probably shocked and speechless. The first pick in most drafts, running back David Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals, dislocated his wrist. There is no timetable for his return. The All-Pro player is expected to miss an extended amount of time, and Kerwynn Williams will take over the starting job. This was a devastating blow for the Arizona Cardinals, who played awful on offense against the Detroit Lions. Carson Palmer seemed out of sorts, and they were incredibly sluggish against one of the worst pass defenses in the league. Palmer threw three picks, and one of their touchdowns was via the defense.  The Cardinals can absolutely use all of the help them can get, especially with Palmer throwing three picks, and losing David Johnson, their best player, does not help them at all.  The Arizona Cardinals have definitely not started the 2017-18 NFL Season how they plan...

Chiefs vs. Patriots Recap

Chiefs Defeat Super Bowl 51 Champs in Season Opener The Kansas City Chiefs started slow and then ripped the life out of the New England Patriots in a 42-27 win that kicked off the 2017 NFL season in surprising fashion.  No team has ever racked up more offensive yardage (537) and points (42) against a Bill Belichick-led defense in New England. It was a rough night for the defending champions who started the game looking like their usual dominant selves.  Tom Brady   opened the game by orchestrating a nine-play, 73-yard touchdown drive and then was gifted another possession when the Chiefs fumbled away their first chance on offense.  But Kansas City came back with a vengeance and picked apart the New England defense. A 21-0 run in the fourth quarter erased a 27-21 lead for the Patriots and gave the Chiefs an impressive victory.  Rookie running back   Kareem Hunt   tallied 148 rushing yards, 98 receiving yards, and three touchdown...

Pre-Regular Season Power Rankings

Power Rankings Before Week 1 The regular season will start tomorrow when the New England Patriots, the defending Super Bowl Champions, take on the Kansas City Chiefs. We will learn a lot about how all of the teams are compared to each other based on how they play in week one. Here are my power rankings for the beginning of the regular season: New England Patriots Atlanta Falcons Green Bay Packers Seattle Seahawks Oakland Raiders New York Giants Pittsburgh Steelers Kansas City Chiefs Tennessee Titans Dallas Cowboys Arizona Cardinals Houston Texans Tampa Bay Buccaneers Miami Dolphins Detroit Lions Washington Redskins San Diego Chargers Philadelphia Eagles New Orleans Saints Denver Broncos Minnesota Vikings Carolina Panthers Cincinnati Bengals Baltimore Ravens Los Angeles Rams Chicago Bears Indianapolis Colts Jacksonville Jaguars Cleveland Browns San Francisco 49ers Buffalo Bills New York Jets

Ezekiel Elliott Suspension Upheld

Elliott Will Play in Week 1 Ezekiel Elliott's six game suspension will be upheld, and he will play in Week One against the New York Giants. Elliott's appeal was denied, but due to the timing of the decision, he will be allowed to play. The decision came after a three day appeal session last week over the domestic violence accusations made against Elliott. Having the running back available is great news for the Dallas Cowboys, who will need all the help they can get playing against the Giants' defense. Dak Prescott has his biggest weapon back, and there will not be as much pressure on him.  There will probably more hearings in the future, and this case is not over. Elliott can still be suspended during the season. We will see what happens next.

Andrew Luck Won't Play

Andrew Luck Still Injured The Indianapolis Colts will open up the season against the Los Angeles Rams without the help of their star quarterback, Andrew Luck. There is no timetable for his return, and it could take him as much as a month to get back on the field. There are even talks that if the Colts do not play well, they might decide to bench Luck so that he does not get any other injuries. His replacement will be Scott Tolzien. The Colts also decided to trade the former first round draft pick, Philip Dorsett, to the New England Patriots for Jacoby Brissett, that way they have more depth on their bench. Without Luck, expect Frank Gore to run the ball more, and the tight ends to be targeted more by Tolzien.

Sleepers

Sleeper Teams and Players Watch Out For There are certain teams and players that I feel can rise this year and play exceptionally well, and even make the playoffs (This list does not include teams such as the Tennessee Titans, who are not considered sleepers anymore). These teams from each conference have the potential and talent on both sides of the ball to have a good season, but everything has to click. AFC Sleepers: Team - Los Angeles Chargers Quarterback - Jay Cutler (Miami Dolphins) Running Back - Isaiah Crowell (Cleveland Browns) Wide Receiver - Eric Decker (Tennessee Titans) Tight End - Hunter Henry (Los Angeles Chargers) Offensive Line - Houston Texans Defensive Line - Los Angeles Chargers Linebackers - Houston Texans Defensive Backs - Tennessee Titans NFC Sleepers: Team - Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback - Sam Bradford (Minnesota Vikings) Running Back - Paul Perkins (New York Giants) Wide Receiver - Cooper Kupp (Los Angeles Rams) Tight End -...

Houston Texans Flood Relief

Hurricane Harvey Causes Problems for the Texans Hurricane Harvey has caused a lot of flooding over the past couple of days, especially in the Greater Houston area. The devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey are still being felt in the city of Houston, and local athletes are rallying and inspiring others to raise money to aid in recovery. J.J. Watt has raised $500,000 in 24 hours. Chris Paul, the point guard of the Houston Rockets, donated $50,000 to the cause. Team owners and managers of several football teams are donating as much as $1 million to help in the relief effort. It will take a while for the city to get back up on its feet, and it could affect the home games for the Texans. This Thursday, a game scheduled to be played in Houston between the Texans and Cowboys was moved to Arlington, Texas, where the Cowboys play. There are chances that a game scheduled to be played in Houston in Week 1 of the regular season will not be played at NRG Stadium. In the meantime, the ...

Quarterback Battles

Who is Going to be the Leader? Based on what we have seen in the preseason, there will be tough quarterback battles to become top dog for several teams. Many rookies have played well, and have the potential to take away the starting job from the expected starters. Here is my take on some of the situations: Chicago Bears - Mike Glennon was set up for success, before the Bears decided to draft Trubisky with the 2nd pick in the draft. He has faltered terribly during the preseason, and it seems as though it is only a matter of time until Trubisky becomes the starter. Jacksonville Jaguars - Blake Bortles has continued to struggle, and the head coach, Doug Marrone, has decided to start Chad Henne in his place. I think Bortles will start this season, but he has not played well at all since he came into the league. Los Angeles Rams - Jared Goff will be the starter. Cleveland Browns - Cody Kessler was the starter last season, but Brock Osweiler and DeShone Kizer have both play...

Preseason Week 3 Power Rankings

Power Rankings There will not be many changes in the power rankings for this week, because most teams have played second and third string players ahead of the roster cuts. At the same time, there have been many standouts for numerous teams, and these players have helped their teams improve on offense, defense, and/or special teams. New England Patriots Atlanta Falcons Pittsburgh Steelers (+3) Green Bay Packers (+1) Oakland Raiders (-2) Seattle Seahawks (+1) Kansas City Chiefs (+1) Arizona Cardinals (+4) Tennessee Titans (+5) New York Giants (-6) Dallas Cowboys (-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2) Houston Texans (-2) Carolina Panthers (-1) Denver Broncos (+1) Philadelphia Eagles (-1) Washington Redskins (+1) Los Angeles Chargers (+3) Detroit Lions  Minnesota Vikings Indianapolis Colts (+1) Miami Dolphins (-5) Baltimore Ravens New Orleans Saints Cincinnati Bengals Jacksonville Jaguars Los Angeles Rams Chicago Bears Cleveland Browns Buffalo Bills San Fra...

Fantasy Football: Top Players By Position

Ranking Fantasy Options Many fantasy football drafts will take place over the next couple of weeks, and I will list my opinion for the top seven players of each position in a Standard Draft. Most of these players were top players last year, but there will be some surprises. Quarterback: Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers Matt Ryan - Atlanta Falcons Philip Rivers - Los Angeles Chargers Andrew Luck - Indianapolis Colts Drew Brees - New Orleans Saints Tom Brady - New England Patriots Marcus Mariota - Tennessee Titans Running Backs: David Johnson - Arizona Cardinals Jordan Howard - Chicago Bears Todd Gurley - Los Angeles Rams Le'Veon Bell - Pittsburgh Steelers LeSean McCoy - Buffalo Bills Melvin Gordon - Los Angeles Chargers Marshawn Lynch - Oakland Raiders Wide Receivers: Mike Evans - Tampa Bay Buccaneers Antonio Brown - Pittsburgh Steelers Julio Jones - Atlanta Falcons Amari Cooper - Oakland Raiders Odell Beckham Jr. - New York Giants Michael Thom...

Watkins Trade

Sammy Watkins is a Ram Three years ago, the Buffalo Bills gave up a king’s ransom in order to draft Sammy Watkins. Then-general manager Doug Whaley traded an additional first-round pick and a fourth-rounder to move up five slots to secure the receiver.  Now, after just 37 games in a Bills uniform, Watkins’ run in Buffalo is over. In a pair of surprising trades on Friday, the Bills sent Watkins and a 2018 sixth-rounder to the Rams in exchange for cornerback E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second-rounder; they also traded cornerback Ronald Darby to the Eagles in exchange for receiver Jordan Matthews and a 2018 third-rounder. The teams and players are all affected by this trade. In terms of fantasy football, Jared Goff has another target, while Tyrod Taylor will probably have a tough time. The Eagles defense got a lot better, while the Bills' defense got worse. On the other hand, the Bills will have six picks in the first three rounds of the 2018 draft, which could be very beneficial...

Rookies Playing Well

Trubisky, Watson, Kizer All Play Well Friday was a mostly uneventful night of preseason football in the NFL. Patrick Mahomes,  C.J. Beathard ,   Joshua Dobbs   and   Davis Webb   all made their preseason debuts, but none had   the eye-opening performance that Mitchell Trubisky did   Thursday night. Instead, it was a night of mostly good and OK performances. Trubisky, Watson, and Kizer all played well in their debuts and had good statistics. In Houston, Watson will definitely be the starting quarterback. However, in Chicago and Cleveland, there are discussions if Trubisky and Kizer, respectively, should start this season instead of sitting out because they are playing very well.  Besides the quarterbacks, there have been a lot of other players picked in the first and second rounds of the draft who are displaying great potential. T.J. Watt racked up 2 sacks in his first game, Joe Mixon and Christian McCaffrey ran well, and there ha...
