Giants' Head Coach and General Manager Fired

Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese are Gone

Giants owner John Mara fired head coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese with a month left in the 2017 season. The Giants were unexpectedly disastrous this year after they made the playoffs last season and seemed to improve during the offseason. They were 11-5 last year, and are currently 2-10. No one thought that the team would implode so significantly, and changes had to be made after some bad decisions and bad coaching. The Giants simply look like they need a fresh start.

For a team like the Giants, a team that so values stability, to fire a head coach and general manager who won 11 games last year speaks volumes about what Mara believes are intractable problems that McAdoo and Reese could not be allowed to fix. The team has been embarrassing, especially regarding how they handled the Eli Manning situation. First and foremost, Eli Manning should not have been benched for Geno Smith. The problem was not the quarterback, it was the injuries around him to his wide receivers, an offensive line that cannot protect him, a running game that cannot help him move the ball down the field, and a defense that has not been playing at the same level as they did in the previous season. If Ben McAdoo wanted to see some of the other talents on the team, he should have started Davis Webb, a rookie, instead of Smith, a perennially bad quarterback. His decisions have not made any sense, and in my opinion, the Giants definitely need new leadership.

Why the Patriots Won Super Bowl 51

Pats Win Over Falcons 34-28 in OT It was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Falcons could not get anything going. Belichick and Brady pulled off some more magic and won their fifth Super Bowl together. In the second half, it seemed as though the game was getting away from the Atlanta Falcons, and their youth caught up to them. I believe that this game should have definitely been won by the Falcons, but the game slipped away from them. There are many reasons to explain what happened, including the fact that the Falcons did not run the football to milk down the clock in the second half, they turned the ball over when it was not necessary, they did not play as tough and physical on defense and seemed gassed, and even just because Tom Brady and the rest of his offense played a hell of a game. In my opinion, though, the real reason why the Patriots won, is because of t...

Week 14 Power Rankings

Cowboys on a Roll, Panthers Drop Not many people expected the Dallas Cowboys to top the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football during Week 13. The Saints came into the game winning ten straight, while the Cowboys were a "mediocre" team in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys won 13-10 and will rise in the week's rankings. In other important games, the Chicago Bears lost a shocker to the New York Giants, Lamar Jackson won his third straight game for the Baltimore Ravens against the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans won their ninth straight game, and the Los Angeles Chargers won a close one against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers are quickly fading in the wild-card race, and have lost four straight games. Here are my rankings heading into Week 14: Los Angeles Rams (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs (10-2) New Orleans Saints (10-2) Los Angeles Chargers (9-3) New England Patriots (9-3) Houston Texans (9-3) Pittsburgh Steelers (...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Chiefs Suffer First Loss; Ravens Shut Out Titans The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs by three points at home, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came back to avoid an upset to the 49ers, the Steelers defeated the Bengals, and the Dolphins took down the Bears at the end of overtime. There were some unexpected wins and losses, as well as some close games, in Week 6. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-notch defense, 40-7. It is been hard to figure out which teams are "contenders" and which are "pretenders" this season. It is especially difficult to rank the middle of the pack teams. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 7: Los Angeles Rams (6-0) New Orleans Saints (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) Carolina Panthers (3-2) Green Bay P...
