Patriots, Falcons Will Face Off in Super Bowl LI

The Atlanta Falcons demolished the Green Bay Packers 44-21. The New England Patriots demolished the Pittsburgh Steelers 36-17. Now, the Patriots and Falcons will face off in an epic battle a week and six days from now in Super Bowl 51. Here is a recap of how the games went down yesterday:

Atlanta Falcons 44 - Green Bay Packers 21:
The Falcons destroyed the Packers from the beginning of the opening drive. Matt Ryan played like an MVP once again - he threw four touchdowns and ran for another TD - and Julio Jones was an absolute monster. The Packers were unable to stop this offense, and the only team to do so were the Philadelphia Eagles. Every other team has struggled against them. The Falcons are clicking on all cylinders, and the defense has improved tremendously over the last five weeks (which has ultimately led to more points). On the other hand, the Packers simply had no fight left in them. The injuries caught up to them. Almost all of the running backs got injured, they were running out of defensive backs, three wide receivers were questionable to play, two offensive linemen left the game and did not come back, and in the end, Aaron Rodgers was a little bit off. They did not have the team and the players to compete with the Falcons' locomotive. For example, Rodgers handed the ball off to a guy named Aaron Ripkowski (someone not many people are familiar with) and he fumbled the ball which led to a turnover. The Falcons were undoubtedly the better team on Sunday.

New England Patriots 36 - Pittsburgh Steelers 17:
The combination of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady is really something else. They are headed to their seventh Super Bowl together and are looking for a fifth Super Bowl victory (a ring for every finger). I do not believe that the Patriots' defense is overrated. We all know what Tom Brady is capable of with that offense, but the team's defense is playing quite well. The team is led by great coaches, which ultimately paves the way for success. The Pats were definitely helped by an injury to LeVeon Bell early in the game, but they were great in stopping Big Ben, Antonio Brown, and the rest of the offense. The Steelers were no match on offense or defense. The Patriots were the more physical team. For example, on one play, LeGarrette Blount carried eight men with him to the one yard line. All eight of those men were Steelers players. They had difficulty tackling! The Steelers need to regroup and make another run next year.

Super Bowl LI will be played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, and we now know that the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots will be facing off.

Why the Patriots Won Super Bowl 51

Pats Win Over Falcons 34-28 in OT It was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Falcons could not get anything going. Belichick and Brady pulled off some more magic and won their fifth Super Bowl together. In the second half, it seemed as though the game was getting away from the Atlanta Falcons, and their youth caught up to them. I believe that this game should have definitely been won by the Falcons, but the game slipped away from them. There are many reasons to explain what happened, including the fact that the Falcons did not run the football to milk down the clock in the second half, they turned the ball over when it was not necessary, they did not play as tough and physical on defense and seemed gassed, and even just because Tom Brady and the rest of his offense played a hell of a game. In my opinion, though, the real reason why the Patriots won, is because of t...

Week 14 Power Rankings

Cowboys on a Roll, Panthers Drop Not many people expected the Dallas Cowboys to top the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football during Week 13. The Saints came into the game winning ten straight, while the Cowboys were a "mediocre" team in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys won 13-10 and will rise in the week's rankings. In other important games, the Chicago Bears lost a shocker to the New York Giants, Lamar Jackson won his third straight game for the Baltimore Ravens against the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans won their ninth straight game, and the Los Angeles Chargers won a close one against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers are quickly fading in the wild-card race, and have lost four straight games. Here are my rankings heading into Week 14: Los Angeles Rams (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs (10-2) New Orleans Saints (10-2) Los Angeles Chargers (9-3) New England Patriots (9-3) Houston Texans (9-3) Pittsburgh Steelers (...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Chiefs Suffer First Loss; Ravens Shut Out Titans The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs by three points at home, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came back to avoid an upset to the 49ers, the Steelers defeated the Bengals, and the Dolphins took down the Bears at the end of overtime. There were some unexpected wins and losses, as well as some close games, in Week 6. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-notch defense, 40-7. It is been hard to figure out which teams are "contenders" and which are "pretenders" this season. It is especially difficult to rank the middle of the pack teams. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 7: Los Angeles Rams (6-0) New Orleans Saints (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) Carolina Panthers (3-2) Green Bay P...
