Should the Rams Pick A Quarterback?
The St. Louis Rams (soon to be Los Angeles Rams) finished last in a tough NFC West division that includes the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, and the San Francisco. They ended up with a 6-10 record and hold the 10th overall pick in the draft. Who should they pick? Sam Bradford was picked first overall in the 2010 draft, but has not performed to his expectations due to consecutive season ending injuries. Many people think that it is time to move on from him and pick either Marcus Mariota or Jamies Winston if they are still on the board. Do I believe that picking a quarterback is reasonable? No, not at all. Why? Well, first of all, Bradford is still young and I think that he will mature into a better quarterback. Also, a big reason for why he gets injured is because the people defending him are not good. He also does not have good wide receivers to throw to as well. Think about, the 49ers, Cardinals, and Seahawks, all have defenses that rank in the top half, with monstrous defensive lines (and do not forget about the Legion of Boom). This is why I believe that the Rams should give it a couple of more years before they draft another quarterback.
In this year's draft, I see the St. Louis Rams picking a wide receiver or an offensive guard to protect their quarterback, or even a cornerback to back their defense even better. Theyhave options this year with their pick. Here are the top draft prospects for the Rams:
- Kevin White - Wide Receiver - West Virginia
- Amari Cooper - Wide Receiver - Alabama
- Trae Waynes - Cornerback - Michigan St.
- Jalen Collins - Cornerback - LSU
- Brandon Scherff - Offensive Guard - Iowa
- Andrus Peat - Offensive Tackle - Stanford
