Divisional Round Recap and New Power Rankings

Jags beat Steelers, Pats crush Titans, Eagles outlast Falcons, Vikings defeat Saints on Final Play

Vikings' Case Keenum, Stefon Diggs Were Written Off – Then They Made History

The final play of the Saints and Vikings game represented three out of the four matchups of the weekend: Close games that came right down to the wire. There were four lead changes in the final four minutes of the Saints vs. Vikings game, and the Vikes won with a walk-off 61-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs as time expired. The Vikings were leading 17-0, but the Saints charged back to take the lead (24-23) with forty seconds left in the game. It seemed like the Saints would move on to play the Eagles in the NFC Championship game, but then the Minneapolis Miracle happened.

In the other games, the Patriots crushed the Titans 35-14, showing that the news that came out in the previous weeks meant absolutely nothing. The Jags took an early lead against the Steelers with good play on both sides of the ball. Blake Bortles played like a starting quarterback in this game, and without him, they would not have been able to pull off the upset against the high-flying Steelers, 45-42. The Falcons and Eagles game was a great defensive battle, and in the end, the Philly defense was able to stop Matt Ryan and Julio Jones on fourth and goal with a minute left in the game.

Here are the updated Power Rankings for the playoff teams heading into Championship Weekend:
  1. New England Patriots (14-3)
  2. Minnesota Vikings (14-3)
  3. Philadelphia Eagles (14-3)
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars (12-6)
  5. New Orleans Saints (12-6)
  6. Pittsburgh Steelers (13-4)
  7. Atlanta Falcons (11-7)
  8. Tennessee Titans (10-8)
  9. Los Angeles Rams (11-6)
  10. Carolina Panthers (11-6)
  11. Kansas City Chiefs (10-7)
  12. Buffalo Bills (9-8)

Why the Patriots Won Super Bowl 51

Pats Win Over Falcons 34-28 in OT It was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Falcons could not get anything going. Belichick and Brady pulled off some more magic and won their fifth Super Bowl together. In the second half, it seemed as though the game was getting away from the Atlanta Falcons, and their youth caught up to them. I believe that this game should have definitely been won by the Falcons, but the game slipped away from them. There are many reasons to explain what happened, including the fact that the Falcons did not run the football to milk down the clock in the second half, they turned the ball over when it was not necessary, they did not play as tough and physical on defense and seemed gassed, and even just because Tom Brady and the rest of his offense played a hell of a game. In my opinion, though, the real reason why the Patriots won, is because of t...

Week 14 Power Rankings

Cowboys on a Roll, Panthers Drop Not many people expected the Dallas Cowboys to top the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football during Week 13. The Saints came into the game winning ten straight, while the Cowboys were a "mediocre" team in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys won 13-10 and will rise in the week's rankings. In other important games, the Chicago Bears lost a shocker to the New York Giants, Lamar Jackson won his third straight game for the Baltimore Ravens against the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans won their ninth straight game, and the Los Angeles Chargers won a close one against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers are quickly fading in the wild-card race, and have lost four straight games. Here are my rankings heading into Week 14: Los Angeles Rams (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs (10-2) New Orleans Saints (10-2) Los Angeles Chargers (9-3) New England Patriots (9-3) Houston Texans (9-3) Pittsburgh Steelers (...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Chiefs Suffer First Loss; Ravens Shut Out Titans The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs by three points at home, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came back to avoid an upset to the 49ers, the Steelers defeated the Bengals, and the Dolphins took down the Bears at the end of overtime. There were some unexpected wins and losses, as well as some close games, in Week 6. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-notch defense, 40-7. It is been hard to figure out which teams are "contenders" and which are "pretenders" this season. It is especially difficult to rank the middle of the pack teams. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 7: Los Angeles Rams (6-0) New Orleans Saints (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) Carolina Panthers (3-2) Green Bay P...
