My Divisional Round Game Picks

Upsets Highlight the Divisional Round

Baltimore 38 - New England 35

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Patriots are coming off a bye week as the #1 seed. Well, 77% of NFL fans believe that the New England Patriots will win this game. Not me. There are only three teams who have been able to understand the schemes of the Patriots in the playoffs. The Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, and New York Giants. On top of this, Joe Flacco, has the highest win percentage of any quarterback in the playoffs. The Ravens have also solidified a run game with Justin Forsett. I think Tom Brady will once again struggle to put up points with heavy pressure coming from Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil, and the rest of the Baltimore defensive line. This is going to be a close one, but I expect the Ravens offense to propel them past the Patriots for the upset.

Carolina 13 - Seattle 24

The Panthers had an easy win against the struggling Cardinals, without there best quarterback, without their best running back, without many defensive players, and with aging players like Larry Fitzgerald. The defending Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks, are a different team. Russell Wilson is acting like a Top-5 quarterback right now, and you just cannot tackle Marshawn Lynch. Their defense will be able to handle the Panthers running game and Cam Newton. I expect the Seahawks to win this game by a long-shot.

Dallas 27 - Green Bay 20

Green Bay is 8-0 at home. At the same time, Dallas is 8-0 on the road. A repeat of the Ice Bowl? Maybe. Temperatures are going to be really low at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Why do I pick the Cowboys?
  1. Aaron Rodgers still has an aching calf injury.
  2. The Dallas Cowboys offensive line.
  3. Tony Romo - DeMarco Murray - Dez Bryant.

Indianapolis 28 - Denver 24

I believe that Andrew Luck will play as exceptionally as he did against the Cincinnati Bengals. And Peyton Manning will play as poorly as he has the last couple of weeks of the Regular Season. Another one of my upset picks. RIght now, the Colts are hot and I expect them to carry momentum through this game. Manning will eventually throw two interceptions and Indianapolis will do their best to stop the run. This will be another close call, but the Colts will finish the game on a high note.

These are my predictions for the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs. I can't wait until the Super Bowl!!!

Why the Patriots Won Super Bowl 51

Pats Win Over Falcons 34-28 in OT It was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Falcons could not get anything going. Belichick and Brady pulled off some more magic and won their fifth Super Bowl together. In the second half, it seemed as though the game was getting away from the Atlanta Falcons, and their youth caught up to them. I believe that this game should have definitely been won by the Falcons, but the game slipped away from them. There are many reasons to explain what happened, including the fact that the Falcons did not run the football to milk down the clock in the second half, they turned the ball over when it was not necessary, they did not play as tough and physical on defense and seemed gassed, and even just because Tom Brady and the rest of his offense played a hell of a game. In my opinion, though, the real reason why the Patriots won, is because of t...

Week 14 Power Rankings

Cowboys on a Roll, Panthers Drop Not many people expected the Dallas Cowboys to top the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football during Week 13. The Saints came into the game winning ten straight, while the Cowboys were a "mediocre" team in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys won 13-10 and will rise in the week's rankings. In other important games, the Chicago Bears lost a shocker to the New York Giants, Lamar Jackson won his third straight game for the Baltimore Ravens against the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans won their ninth straight game, and the Los Angeles Chargers won a close one against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers are quickly fading in the wild-card race, and have lost four straight games. Here are my rankings heading into Week 14: Los Angeles Rams (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs (10-2) New Orleans Saints (10-2) Los Angeles Chargers (9-3) New England Patriots (9-3) Houston Texans (9-3) Pittsburgh Steelers (...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Chiefs Suffer First Loss; Ravens Shut Out Titans The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs by three points at home, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came back to avoid an upset to the 49ers, the Steelers defeated the Bengals, and the Dolphins took down the Bears at the end of overtime. There were some unexpected wins and losses, as well as some close games, in Week 6. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-notch defense, 40-7. It is been hard to figure out which teams are "contenders" and which are "pretenders" this season. It is especially difficult to rank the middle of the pack teams. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 7: Los Angeles Rams (6-0) New Orleans Saints (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) Carolina Panthers (3-2) Green Bay P...
