Best Head Coaching Options for the Bills, Jaguars, and Rams

Head Coach Candidates

Three teams have already fired their head coaches this season - the Bills (7-8), Jaguars (3-12), and Rams (4-11) - and many more have yet to come, in my estimation. General managers and owners are becoming more and more impatient with "the process" of head coaches, and therefore they get fired after a couple of seasons instead of allowing them to improve the system and create an outstanding team through free agency and the NFL Draft. The Bills fired Rex Ryan because he did not improve a team that was 9-7 when he took over, and it has already been two seasons. He said big things when he got the job, but has not accomplished any of his goals. The Jaguars under Gus Bradley developed good talent, and it seemed as though this year would mark a breakout season for the franchise, but rather they have gone backwards due to bad quarterback play. Because of this, Bradley was fired. Lastly, the most satisfying firing this season had to be when the Rams relieved Jeff Fisher of his duties. The Los Angeles Rams were always mediocre under him, and everything seemed to go wrong when they had to with this team. They have talent on both sides of the ball, but have not accomplished much with Fisher leading the charge.

Here are the top five coaching candidates for each of these three teams heading into the offseason.

Buffalo Bills:
  1. Anthony Lynn - Bills Offensive Coordinator/Interim Head Coach
  2. Teryl Austin - Lions Defensive Coordinator
  3. Mike Smith - Buccaneers Defensive Coordinator
  4. Todd Haley - Steelers Defensive Coordinator
  5. Kyle Shanahan - Falcons Offensive Coordinator
Jacksonville Jaguars:
  1. Doug Marrone - Interim Head Coach
  2. Josh McDaniels - Patriots Offensive Coordinator
  3. Kyle Shanahan - Falcons Offensive Coordinator
  4. Tom Coughlin - Former Jags/Giants Head Coach
  5. Jimbo Fisher - Flordia State (Univ) Coach
Los Angeles Rams:
  1. Josh McDaniels - Patriots Offensive Coordinator
  2. Jim Harbaugh - Univ of Michigan Head Coach
  3. Jon Gruden - Former Coach/ESPN analyst
  4. David Shaw - Stanford Head Coach
  5. Sean McVay - Redskins Offensive Coordinator

Why the Patriots Won Super Bowl 51

Pats Win Over Falcons 34-28 in OT It was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Falcons could not get anything going. Belichick and Brady pulled off some more magic and won their fifth Super Bowl together. In the second half, it seemed as though the game was getting away from the Atlanta Falcons, and their youth caught up to them. I believe that this game should have definitely been won by the Falcons, but the game slipped away from them. There are many reasons to explain what happened, including the fact that the Falcons did not run the football to milk down the clock in the second half, they turned the ball over when it was not necessary, they did not play as tough and physical on defense and seemed gassed, and even just because Tom Brady and the rest of his offense played a hell of a game. In my opinion, though, the real reason why the Patriots won, is because of t...

Week 14 Power Rankings

Cowboys on a Roll, Panthers Drop Not many people expected the Dallas Cowboys to top the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football during Week 13. The Saints came into the game winning ten straight, while the Cowboys were a "mediocre" team in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Cowboys won 13-10 and will rise in the week's rankings. In other important games, the Chicago Bears lost a shocker to the New York Giants, Lamar Jackson won his third straight game for the Baltimore Ravens against the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans won their ninth straight game, and the Los Angeles Chargers won a close one against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers are quickly fading in the wild-card race, and have lost four straight games. Here are my rankings heading into Week 14: Los Angeles Rams (11-1) Kansas City Chiefs (10-2) New Orleans Saints (10-2) Los Angeles Chargers (9-3) New England Patriots (9-3) Houston Texans (9-3) Pittsburgh Steelers (...

Week 7 Power Rankings

Chiefs Suffer First Loss; Ravens Shut Out Titans The New England Patriots were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs by three points at home, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came back to avoid an upset to the 49ers, the Steelers defeated the Bengals, and the Dolphins took down the Bears at the end of overtime. There were some unexpected wins and losses, as well as some close games, in Week 6. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-notch defense, 40-7. It is been hard to figure out which teams are "contenders" and which are "pretenders" this season. It is especially difficult to rank the middle of the pack teams. Here are my power rankings heading into Week 7: Los Angeles Rams (6-0) New Orleans Saints (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) New England Patriots (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) Carolina Panthers (3-2) Green Bay P...
